These timber cabins make a bush getaway feel comfortable, and they're built from local timber. The setting is wonderfully tucked away, while still close enough to Penguin and Ulverstone for anything you need. There are no TVs or WiFi, so we spent time by the warm fire reading and enjoying friends' company. Families can borrow games, cards and jigsaws to keep the kids busy with simpler things.

As a manual wheelchair user, finding genuinely accessible accommodation can be stressful, since places are often listed as accessible when they aren't. Farm Hut was a fantastic discovery and built to a standard that worked ideally for me. We loved the log cabin and how quiet it was. The second bedroom suited my support worker, and the large bathroom has grab rails in just the right places. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the log fire kept things warm and cosy. You're near lots of places, though WiFi is absent and phone reception is patchy. I ended up disconnecting, which wasn't a bad thing. Highly recommend.

The peaceful rural views made the property itself a highlight, and it was very affordable for the quality of the stay. At Rust Hut Bush Retreat, the hosts were warm and went out of their way to make us comfortable from the minute we arrived. The timber cabins have lots of character, made with wood milled right there on the property. Everything was immaculate and welcoming, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and plenty of firewood was supplied for the cosy evening wood fire. We'd absolutely return, and recommend it for a tranquil Tasmanian escape.

Simple country living, with smart, uncomplicated design. The cabin feels natural and homey, and it's beautifully made with everything you need, including dry, pre-chopped firewood. The views are lovely even in the wettest weather. A memorable stay, and worth a look if you're on Tasmania's North Coast. There's a video of the images on our socials.

Our daughter joined us for four days and said, "You've hit the jackpot with this cabin!" There was plenty of room for the three of us, and she loved all the timber. We also enjoyed the fireplace and the plentiful firewood. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it's close to local places to visit. We'd happily stay again next time we're in Tasmania.
