Coming back from a family trip from Melbourne to Townsville, I had to stay here, and it was the worst hotel experience of my life. As soon as we entered the room, bugs and cockroaches were there to welcome us. I spent the whole night killing bugs. This hotel turned me into a murderer. Better to sleep in the car or a tent than waste money on a scary night here.

We stayed one night in room 7 last week. The mattress was falling apart, with a spring poking through the top, and the sheet had a hole in it. The bathroom door handle was coming off and the paint was chipped. Nails were sticking up through the lino. No one was at reception. An awful septic smell woke us in the early hours. We've complained to the local council health department about the cleanliness of this so-called motel, and they will be investigating. We think it's a disgrace to Cunnamulla.

The bathroom door wouldn't close, and Netflix didn't work. The hotel was closed, and the room cost $135. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot with strong pressure.

Our first choices were booked, so we stumbled across this hotel, and what a pleasant surprise. The rooms are basic but very clean, with new air conditioning. The food was excellent, the staff were great, and the value for money was outstanding. A good, honest stop with good people and good food.

The rooms were excellent on both of our stays, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Alan cooked superb meals for us each time. Having a brilliant chef makes this pub well worth staying at, and it’s definitely the pick of the town.
