Margaret River Motel

We booked two rooms for six of us, and everyone liked their stay. The rooms were huge, with lovely bathrooms, massive comfortable double beds, and good air-conditioning. Coming from England, I particularly liked the rustic design, like some hotels back home. The motel is only a few minutes’ walk from Margaret River’s main street. It was a bit pricey for one night, but we had a lovely stay and a very good sleep. Thank you :)

The room felt like an 80s revival. On the plus side, it was big, with a comfortable bed, a decent barbecue, friendly staff, and a pancake machine at the included continental breakfast. The grounds were spacious, with a tennis court, and there was free laundry with a washer and dryer. But the room was very dated, with big old wooden furniture, 80s carpet and couch, and a TCL TV so old that Netflix didn’t work. It was dark and smelled quite musty, which really put us off. The only cooking appliance in the room was a microwave. With help from MR Coles, we grilled garlic prawns and vegetables on the barbecue and cooked potatoes in the microwave, then ate at the veranda table. The place really isn’t set up for cooking in the room. The bathroom was old too, but usable. I suspect it dates from before the avocado green era. If the room hadn’t smelled, I’d give it four stars. New carpets and furniture would make this a cracking place.

The room was comfortable and the breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly. But the drain outside our door made a loud burst-water-main sort of noise whenever the next-door room showered. It woke us up several times.

My friends and I stayed two nights at the motel during a trip to Margaret River and were really happy with the experience. We felt welcome from the friendly greeting on arrival, and got some incredible winery recommendations during our stay. The rooms and the motel’s vibe felt homely, welcoming, and safe, and we enjoyed every minute. I’d happily recommend it, and we can’t wait to stay again. Thank you for having us ❤️
