The suite was roomy, clean and easy to settle into, especially with a well-equipped kitchen and a generous bedroom wardrobe. We had everything for cooking, from cookware and tableware to a pod coffee machine and tea. The living room was comfortable, though a bit plain, and the balcony looked onto the laneway and parking area behind the building. Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough is handy for getting into the CBD, with loads of restaurants, bars and pubs nearby. We used Wilson Parking about 50 metres away instead of Secure Park at the property, since it was roughly half the price, and could access it directly from level 2. The staff were friendly and accommodating. My early check-in request worked out, and we were in the room by midday, which I really appreciated. We didn’t get to use the pool, spa or sauna, but it was nice to know they were there for a future visit. We had a solid stay and would happily come back.

Reception were polite and tried to help. They listened to our concerns and moved us to a better room, but that didn’t make the hotel’s condition acceptable. Even after we upgraded to their top-of-the-line room, there was little improvement, and the air conditioning still wasn’t working properly. The gym machines had visible rust, and the pool had a strong, unpleasant smell. Our room’s carpet seemed old, and the bed and pillows smelled bad. The pillows were also uncomfortable and very poor quality. I came to Sydney with my family, but the stay was so disappointing that I wouldn’t return.

The apartment felt dark and stuffy, and there was a musty smell throughout. Street noise came through constantly. The small, dirty balcony faced a multi-storey car park only a few metres away, so people could look right into the window. I kept the blinds fully closed during the day. Check-in was delayed because the room wasn’t clean yet. Once I finally got in, the carpet was still dirty. The photos made the place look much brighter and cheerier than it was, and the apartments feel soulless. For the location, quality and facilities, it’s way overpriced. I wouldn’t stay here again.

We loved having an apartment with a kitchen and washer and dryer, and the place had the amenities we needed, including shampoo, conditioner and hand soap. The staff were so kind and went out of their way to help when we were missing something. The pool and hot tub were great too, and their hours worked really well for us. The location was incredible. There are two coffee shops next door, a grocery store around the corner and restaurants all around. Darling Harbour is super close, and public transport is easy to reach. You can see the Saturday night fireworks from the hotel windows. Such a great place for a family in Sydney, I can’t recommend it enough.

The building’s history and the great location were a plus, and the rooms were quite nice. But the wifi wouldn’t work. When we asked for help, we were told, “sorry but your phone won’t connect.” Even the TV couldn’t get online, so we were limited to free-to-air channels. We paid extra for the advertised “luxuries” and were pretty disappointed. For what we paid, we expected a lot more. It wasn’t a favourite, and we won’t be back.
