Signatures on Woods -Sky Tower

We enjoyed our stay and had no problems, especially for the price and location. Just be aware the accommodation is inside the Oaks hotel, which could be confusing if you don't know. Reception is virtual and by phone, which was fine for us. They don't replenish things like coffee, sugar, toilet paper or shampoo, so bring or plan to get your own if you're staying more than a few nights.

Darwin is beautiful and full of amazing people, but we were entirely unsatisfied with our stay here. The setup is confusing: Signatures on Woods is on the 13th floor of Oaks Elan, and you're told not to speak to the Oaks reception because theirs is virtual. Our family booked four rooms, and every one had problems. In our two-bedroom apartment for two adults and two children, there were only two double beds, which didn't suit my teenage children. The fridge didn't work. I emailed virtual reception and was told someone would come in the morning, but nobody arrived. I waited another day and emailed again, got an apology and another promise, then nobody came again. This happened four times. Only after my partner called to complain did anyone come to the apartment. By then the air conditioner was leaking badly, and we also found the BBQ didn't work. When the manager arrived, she was patronising and unaccommodating. She said, “most people don’t even use the fridge!” I suggested moving us, bringing a portable fridge, or even an esky with ice, but got no response. She said she'd contact the owner and get back to us that day, but never did. After we called again, the receptionist said the manager would call, then I received an email from the operation director. He said the fridge would be replaced after we'd left and offered to pay for the spoiled food. I accepted that offer but said it wasn't satisfactory to go without a working fridge. The manager then said he would reimburse the food, but there was nothing else he could do. When I said again that this wasn't acceptable, he withdrew the offer to pay. He offered a ridiculously low accommodation discount that didn't cover the food or the inconvenience. I told them I'd take it to consumer affairs. In his email he wrote, “Every now and then you come across someone who does things a little out of the norm.” I found that condescending too. Just don't stay here.

The property and room layout were great, and the manager was lovely. They called to check that my stay was going well. I stayed in the apartments recently and would come back next time I'm in Darwin.

Spotless apartment, with all the amenities taken care of and superb views. It's right in central Darwin. I've stayed here many times and honestly won't stay anywhere else.
