The big yard was great for our dog, and we liked the location and relaxing spa bath. We did enjoy our stay once we’d settled in, but there were quite a few problems. There were large dog poos in the backyard and big bugs, both alive and dead, around the house. The TVs were clunky and didn’t have most streaming services, the barbecue was shockingly dirty, and the upstairs shower was foggy with low pressure. Getting in was also a hassle because the host hadn’t sent the house code at first. For a place advertised as dog friendly, a dog door would make sense. At $700 a night and supposedly five star quality, it needs work. We’d rate it 2.5/5.

The beds were super comfy, and the fireplace, Netflix and wine made a great combo. Damais was a wonderful stay for our family and dog. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. The house works well for families or groups of 7-8.

I was excited to book this after seeing it advertised as a Luxury 3 Bedroom House. After paying, my booking showed a confirmed room request for “8 large twin beds,” while the base rate on the site was for 6 guests. But when we arrived, the upstairs room was locked, including what looked like the best room and its balcony shown in the photos. I emailed to ask whether it could be unlocked and got no reply. The next day I was asked how things were, so I asked again if we could use it for our last night. Still no response. When I later mentioned the unanswered emails and said I might leave a bad review, the hosts said they’d left a voicemail, though there was no voicemail on my phone. They also said, “We indeed offered you the best bedrooms. Not one but two..” That didn’t feel like good customer service, and unlocking upstairs hardly seemed like a big ask. It’s a shame, because the house itself is nice and I’m sure the hosts aren’t bad people. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but they should advertise the setup clearly. If there are fewer than eight of you, be aware you may not get the whole house as advertised.

A great fit for our family of 8, with lots of thoughtful little extras. It’s just 4 minutes from town and the lake. Highly recommended.

A lovely big house that worked perfectly for our group!
