Marzden Cottage

The outdoor hot tub was why we chose this cottage, and it was fantastic. We also enjoyed the indoor spa. The cottage was comfortable and well kept, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom, working appliances, and a fridge that kept everything cold. The main shower had amazing water pressure. We appreciated being able to collect the keys about half an hour early, the thoughtful welcome gift pack, and finding the air conditioning already on. The location gave us some peace just outside town, though the centre was still about a 20-minute walk away. There were a few things that could be better. The house stayed warm during the day, and without fly screens we couldn't leave the windows open at night. One bedroom's glass sliding door also had no screen. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms would have helped. We saw several very large spiders on the deck, so I avoided going out there at night. The hot tub felt mostly private, but a nearby house's kitchen windows look onto the deck, and some shade cloth could add privacy. The beds were a little firm and seemed due for renewal. We enjoyed our stay, though the price felt high. We know it was a long weekend and cost more than usual, but we're not sure it was worth what we paid. It's comfortable, though not a flash place.
