Debbie has made such a lovely place to unwind, and she was a pleasure to deal with. The house had everything we needed, and I can’t think of a thing she could improve. We loved our stay. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Literal nightmare. If zero stars were an option, I’d give it zero. I booked in March 2021 for May 2022 so my bridesmaids and I could get ready for my wedding near the venue. Fifty-five days before the wedding, the owner messaged to say she was cancelling because she wanted the house for her family that night. I was left looking for somewhere suitable for four people near a wedding venue out in the sticks. This came after a phone call just a month earlier to confirm the reservation. I’d explained that it was for my wedding and really important to me. The call was because she was pushing me to check in late, since a guest who booked 11 months after me wanted a late checkout that morning. She kept saying I’d be the reason that booking was cancelled, as though I was unreasonable for expecting the agreed check-in time. She knew how inconvenient this would be and that it was for my wedding, but offered no price reduction, late checkout, or other compensation. After saying she was cancelling, Debbie tried to charge my card the full booking cost. My bank didn’t process it, thankfully. Otherwise I’d have been without wedding accommodation and out $540 while waiting for Booking.com to refund me. Is it fraud to charge for a service you won’t provide? About the owner’s reply: I’ve included screenshots of the original message. She cancelled the Friday booking because she wanted to use the house for her family, while offering Saturday and Sunday instead. That didn’t work for me because I needed the property Friday night and Saturday morning. The messages also show she had no issue with the payment method change at the time, and now seems to be using it as an excuse for her behaviour. Payment was due 30 days before the booking, so it would have been paid in full well before the stay. She had no risk. I booked with a credit card in March 2021, then cancelled that card and updated the details to my active card. That’s common with a booking made so far ahead, and I explained it to the host. Be careful booking well in advance if you might need to change your payment card. She may call you a scammer and cancel. Booking.com told me they thought the host’s behaviour was poor, but their policy couldn’t force a host to provide accommodation if they didn’t want to, so they had to cancel at her request. Honestly, don’t bother, especially if you’re booking for something important. They’ll cancel at short notice, showed no empathy, and were super rude when I asked Debbie to reconsider and let me keep my reservation. Another review describes the same issue, so this seems to have happened before. Find somewhere reliable and spare yourself the stress. At least four of the five-star reviews here, from Debbie Yeates and Greg Yeates, are literally from the owner. The sign-off in my second photo matches the name. I don’t know how many of the positive reviews are real, since they’re leaving fake reviews for their own property. These owners seem dishonest and have no morals.

Six hours after Booking.com confirmed everything, Debbie texted to ask me to cancel because the reservation had been made by mistake. By then I’d already invited my friends and organised the trip. I was frustrated, disappointed, and sad, to name a few feelings. If you can’t manage one property properly, you shouldn’t be in real estate.

The place is well thought out, with all the amenities you could want. The beds are large and comfy, the showers have great water pressure, and the bathtub is perfect for a soak. I also loved the view from the front sunroom. Definitely coming back soon.
