For a Derby trip, this place is amazing, right next to the trail head and ideal for getting onto Blue Derby. The property had everything we needed, including a garage set up for mountain bike maintenance. Larry, the owner/manager, was exceptionally helpful, a genuinely decent guy, and very responsive to messages. I can't fault the place and would highly recommend it if you're headed to Derby.

Derby Digs Cabin felt like a K Mart experience, and it was very disappointing. The owner's communication was poor, rude, and patronising. Some of the crockery was chipped, and there were only glasses provided, no porcelain cups or mugs. The plastic kettle's lid lever was already broken when we arrived. The owner questioned us about what had happened to it, when the cleaners should have noticed it. The bench-top table wasn't wide enough for two dinner plates with us seated opposite each other. It also had a huge, unhygienic burl indentation that caught dirt. Under the bed was a half-empty packet of chewing gum, left there after the previous clean. The driveway was completely unsuitable for car access, so we had to carry all our belongings up a very steep slope covered in loose, coarse blue gravel. It felt like a serious injury risk for guests. Access was through a tiny gate with only a spring mechanism, which was very difficult to use with a bicycle. There was little privacy, as guests at the two bordering properties frequently walked past the cabin. The sewage system gave off a constant offensive smell. The linen and manchester were poor quality, looked aged, and were all synthetic. The cheap beds were uncomfortable.

From the kind of bar table, you get a good view of the hills and trail head. The location is right beside the trail head and rental stores, and the rooms are great. The kitchen is really nice too.

We stayed at the Derby Barn over Christmas, and wow, we were blown away. The location overlooking the trail head and pump track suited both riders and non-riders. We also loved having a mud room for safely storing our bikes. The kitchen and facilities were well appointed, with loads of extras that made us feel at home. We'll be back. Thank you, The Rayner Family.

We’re here as a family and will be back again. The cottage is clean, lovely, and spacious, and the wood heater keeps it warm with a nice ambience. We’ve enjoyed sitting on the deck with a book in the winter sun, looking down over the river. The location is great, close to the trail head, with a short walk or ride to local cafes and the pub, which is great for a meal but needs a booking.
