Nightelier Devonport Gateway Hotel

After sailing over from the mainland, this was a great place to stay. The price was affordable for the quality, and it was close to all the amenities. Everyone on staff was friendly, kind, supportive and efficient. We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast bistro food, with plenty of choices 😋 The room was spotless and quiet, the beds were super comfortable, and that hotel shower felt good after a long trip. I'd happily stay here again on my travels. Thanks for having us.

The room was decent, and for the price I'd stay again. Parking is limited for the number of rooms, so get back early if you want to secure a spot for the night. There are a few pubs and bakeries within walking distance, about five minutes for a morning pie. A couple of the room features were odd: power comes on with the key card, so if one person goes out while the others are asleep, you can't get back in or use the lift without waking them. The shower exhaust fan seems to run on a timer you can't adjust, so a shower before bed leaves the room steamy. Looking down the extraction vent, I found it absolutely full of lint, which seems like a massive fire hazard to me.

The staff were friendly, the linen was good, and the food was good too. Still, the rooms felt somewhat dated, and the stained carpets had an unpleasant smell. The bathrooms have been renovated, but they still feel old. Our commode hadn't been flushed when we were given the room. It might do if you only need somewhere to sleep for a night, especially when other accommodation nearby is limited.

We were just passing through for one night and left feeling rested and refreshed. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, the pub style room service meals were delicious, and the staff were kind and welcoming. Thanks for a great stay.
