Papillon Coolum

The helpfulness of Pete and Leigh really stood out. We had a small issue on day one that wasn't their fault, but they fixed it quickly and went beyond what we expected. I loved all nine nights here, and thought Papillon Villas was great value for money. From my other reviews, you'll know I do mention problems when I find them, but I had a great stay. Our apartment was spotless, with quality beds and furniture and a great layout. There were two balconies with room to eat at an eight-place table or lounge on outdoor sofas. The master bedroom opened onto a huge balcony, a lovely late-night escape without the kids. It also had a spa and TV. A bar fridge in there might have kept me in the room most of the time. The complex pool was a nice little one, and most days we had it to ourselves. Both balconies looked out to the sea, with friendly kookaburras and butcherbirds for company. We barely saw the neighbours and didn't hear them. The apartments sit among the treetops, set back from the main road, so the rustling leaves and ocean drowned out most of the road noise. Papillon Villas is about 2 km from Coolum Beach, an easy ten-minute walk or three minutes by car. We've stayed in Coolum Beach before, but I prefer this quieter spot. If you want a more relaxed stay, I'd avoid the high-rise places in Coolum, which have been very noisy in my experience. There were kids' games, three TV areas, two huge dining tables and plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs. The kitchen was well equipped, and wifi was fast and free. Six stars if I could.
