We spent ages in the plunge pool, which was just the right temperature, and the skylights let us watch and listen to the rain at night. The showers look right out into the rainforest, too. The lodge is spotless and private, with a wonderfully immersive feel that made it easy to switch off. The staff were lovely and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The food at The Cycad Restaurant was some of the best I’ve had. We loved the cocktails under the canopy, and breakfast lets you choose what you’d like rather than being the usual continental spread. I had the granola and recommend it, and the coffee was great. Food orders close at 4pm to help reduce waste, which I think is a genius idea. Bring a car. We drove to Cape Tribulation for snorkelling, and the lodge was well placed for that day trip. There’s also an ice cream shop right across the road, with the best ice cream I’ve ever had. Don’t skip it. One of my best stays from start to finish, and I’d recommend the place to anyone visiting the Daintree. We’ll definitely be back.

Cassy the Cassowary was a lovely bonus greeting us when we arrived. The place itself is gorgeous and absolutely worth a stay, but what really stood out was how personally cared for we felt. Sacha welcomed us so warmly, and it felt more like staying in a thoughtfully run home than a lodge. The meals his partner prepared were incredible, honestly the best we had on our whole trip. Thanks again for having us!

Being surrounded by the rainforest made the stay unforgettable, and a male Cassowary greeting us was a real highlight. Sasha and the team gave us a warm welcome and excellent service. The cabins were beautifully presented, with facilities that were clearly well maintained, and we loved the restaurant meals. The whole experience was just what we hoped for.

Rain fell for most of our stay, even at the end of April, and the lodge is a long way from towns, so keep that in mind. Still, the rooms were thoughtfully designed, the service was faultless, and getting around the lodge was easy. Sasha and the other staff seem to have chosen this environment because they want to help preserve the rainforest biome and share their love of nature. They did that while looking after us exceptionally well. We left feeling humbled.

The fan palms and surrounding forest made this feel like the heart of the Daintree, and it’s the prettiest part of the area. Our private cabins were spaced apart from each other, and Sasha’s attention to detail made the stay special. The meals were delicious, locally sourced, and well prepared. I would have liked a little more choice at dinner, though. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to others.
