Dubbo Centrepoint Motel

This is a simple, old, run-down motel that happened to be pet friendly. The dog run out back earned it an extra star. The pool was filthy on a summer day when it would have been lovely to use, which made my wife and me sad. The mattresses are old and need replacing, the TV is small, and loose bricks in the worn parking lot are trip hazards. There’s no breakfast buffet. A nasty check-in message threatens a $250 charge for excessive cleaning, I think, without explaining what would trigger it, and signs ask guests to wash their own dishes. I’d stay again only for one night on the way somewhere else.

Right in the centre of Dubbo, which is a great location. The room was small but clean. The parking area was tight, so you have to manoeuvre carefully to avoid the other cars. Communication could be better, and the pool isn’t worth mentioning.

We’ve stayed here several times while travelling back and forth to family in Victoria with our little whippet, Gilbert, and plan to keep doing so. It’s reasonably quiet despite being near a main road, parking is good, and there’s a pool to cool off in or tire out the kids, plus a small dog run. The location is handy, with a bakery across the road that opens early for coffee. Rooms are clean and stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand wash. The little kitchen has a sink, soap and cloths, microwave, kettle and complimentary biscuits. I recommend this clean, reasonably priced, dog-friendly motel in a good spot.

The parking could use more spaces for the number of rooms, but it wasn’t a big issue since you can park on the street in front of the motel. The area didn’t seem dangerous. Inside, the rooms were clean and tidy, with more space than I expected and enough room for a comfortable stay. The quality is very good for the affordable price. I’d definitely come back.
