Green Gables Motel

After paying for a room, I arrived to find reception unattended, with no contact number on or near the door. I had no confirmation of my room number either. Keys were lying under the doormats of several rooms, with nobody there. I called the landline listed on the website several times, but it rang out to voicemail, and waited 40 minutes for a call back. When the lady finally rang, she was rude and dismissive, said there was no booking under my name, and told me to check I’d booked the right year. She wouldn’t listen while I explained I had booked and paid, and had already left because I couldn’t get into a room. Two other people there at the same time had the same experience. Highly unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The room was spacious, with simple furnishings and off-street parking. The cleaning was questionable, though: the bath was dirty and the previous guests’ drinks were still in the fridge.

We stayed one night, and the room was dirty. The shower looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages, and the toilet needs fixing. There was just one toilet roll, and the room needs major maintenance. The main bed had no pillows, while the pillows on the couch had no cases. A review from over six months earlier had mentioned a broken cupboard door sitting on top of the cupboard, and it was still there during our stay. Reception was very rude and the Wi-Fi didn’t work. I don’t recommend this place, and we won’t stay again.

I had a great night here. I parked my truck kerbside out front, and the friendly, helpful receptionist offered milk, tea and coffee. The bedroom and bathroom were quiet and clean, the bed was comfy, and the TV had Foxtel, IIRC.
