Nightcap at Macquarie Inn

We chose an apartment because we had kids and planned to cook, but the pots were so dirty I wasn’t sure anyone could use them. There was no dishwashing liquid when we arrived. Reception gave me washing powder in a glass, and when I asked for a sponge they gave me a wipe towel. The bathroom door also had no lock. They said it was a safety issue, which made me wonder, since I haven’t seen this in other hotels. If I hadn’t booked an apartment, those things might not have mattered as much. We ended up getting takeaways, so we might as well have booked a hotel room.

We picked this place for our trip to Dubbo Zoo and thought it was great, with most things reasonably close by. It’s no Hilton, but for the price you get a good shower and an okay bed. The optional breakfast is a standard buffet, but still satisfying.

Really cosy room, with an amazing bed, big TV and a lovely shower. Reception and room service were friendly too. The pub’s parmi was amazing.

We really enjoyed the room’s interior, especially the brickwork, and having our own little porch to sit on with coffee each morning and after our outings. The beds were comfortable, it was very quiet, and the bathroom was a decent size. They even had proper coffee in the room, my favourite Nescafe, and the bath towels were nice and big. Booking online got us a free drink each and 10% off meals, and breakfast was included in our room price. The cleaner was such a lovely lady with a great laugh, she made our day. This motel cost less than motels in Sydney and was better than the last one we stayed in town Hall. We’re already planning to return next year.
