We first stopped in for an afternoon drink and met Stephen, who was charming, helpful and an absolute delight. We came back that evening for dinner, and the steak was cooked to perfection. The staff were all polite and lovely to chat with. They really made our time away so enjoyable.

Howard was so friendly and suggested some great walks in Barrington Tops. We really enjoyed our stay, especially the very comfortable beds. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished, and Steven made a great coffee. Looking forward to staying again.

The locals are a real hoot, especially on a band or trivia night, and Dungog is in a beautiful part of NSW. The Royal has all the old-world character, beautifully enhanced, and it's great value. The service was so kind and thoughtful. It's the best pub stay I can remember. Thank you, I can't recommend the Royal and Dungog enough.

There was live music while the eight of us enjoyed dinner and chatted together. I loved the duck Ragu, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was good, and the venue has been tastefully restored to suit the period, making for an amazing atmosphere.

The old dining room, phone booth and saloon bar inside are worth a look. They really bring to mind a bygone era. The food was delicious, with amazing mains and desserts. If you have high standards for food, give it a go.
