The wildlife was a lovely surprise, with all sorts of creatures bouncing, slithering and strutting around the tidy gardens and lawns. Staff were friendly and smiled whenever they greeted me. I’d definitely stay again. The rooms are clean, neat and well set up, with properly serviced fridges and air conditioners that don’t feel like the cheapest option. They even supply hotel style soap and shampoo, plus laundry powder, which is a nice touch. The buffet breakfast was excellent, almost like being in a hotel. Meals are made to order, there’s a small buffet topped up often, and the food stays fresh rather than turning soggy like at the bigger camps. Lunch choices for the next day are a bit limited, though, and there aren’t toastie style breakfasts to grab and go. A smoking area would help. Walking past off shift workers smoking and knocking back drinks outside their rooms in the walkway isn’t pleasant, and it leaves you shutting the window and using earplugs. Parking’s also a bit average: the spaces are very narrow and often a long walk from the room, which could be a pain with heavy bags or in the rain. I’ve stayed at Camps in Moranbah, and this is the best one so far.

The front desk staff can be ignorant and often seem unhappy, though everyone else is lovely. Dinner is mostly amazing, but the cribs aren’t good. These are the best camp rooms I’ve stayed in, clean and comfy, and they have double beds!

There’s a well kept garden around the grounds, and local wildlife visits too. The gym is great for weights or aerobic exercise. Food is fantastic, with lots of healthy choices at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rooms are carpeted and have double beds, TVs with some cable channels, and decent bathrooms.

The rooms are good and the food is okay, but breakfast is the worst and dinner’s just average. The gym is very basic, and there’s no wet mess. Crib choices are limited, so bring your own food if you don’t want salad every day.

There’s billiards and ping pong in the rec room, and the mess serves delicious food. They have a fresh vegetarian menu option each night. My favourite from my last swing was eggplant parmi 🤤. The receptionists weren’t the friendliest people. This is my favourite village in the Bowen Basin, with a resort feel, green lawns, palm trees and cute wild animals everywhere. The rooms are modern, clean and have double beds.
