The beach was close by, we enjoyed our meal, and playing pool was fun. But our room was missing everything listed for the one we booked: air conditioning, a wardrobe, ironing gear, and electric blankets. The shower pressure was poor and the temperature kept changing. I’d seen those problems mentioned in earlier reviews too. Reception told us the woman there was filling in as interim manager while management changed. Go figure. 🤔 We stayed one night, February 21st, and the difference between the booked room and the one we got felt a bit like Fawlty Towers in Tasmania. Booking.com only shows the things we liked unless you click “see all reviews.” That selective first impression seems somewhat deceptive. I’d suggest future guests read all the comments there to get a balanced view of the accommodation.

The bed was really firm and hard, so a topper would help. Face washers in the bathroom and an airer for clothes that can’t go in the dryer would be useful too. Still, the staff were really friendly, and although the dining room was quiet, the food was very tasty. It’s a great place to stay, very close to Port Arthur, about 20klms away. I’d stay again.

The only thing that let the room down was the spa not working. Otherwise it was impeccable, with a TV in each room plus a dishwasher and combo washer dryer. Robert was excellent at Reception. It’s a wonderful spot. We saw an echidna waddling across the road when we arrived, and the Tessalate Steps are only a few metres away. I’d definitely stay here again next time I’m in this part of Tassie.

The bar and restaurant staff were really good, and so was the food. The restaurant and bar area also has nice views. We were disappointed with our superior ocean view room, though. It looked out over the beer garden. When we mentioned it at reception, they said you could technically see the ocean if you stood near the window and looked hard right. In my view, that doesn’t make it an ocean view room.

Beautiful area and a great location, well worth a visit. The first night our keys wouldn’t let us into the room, and the washer/dryer gave us trouble the second night. Big shout out to Rob, who went out of his way to help and make sure we were comfortable.
