Edgewater Hotel

The location is amazing, and the staff were really friendly. My room was spacious, very clean and really nice. I’d like a microwave in the room, even a cheap one, and a new shower head. The one I used sprayed in several directions, lol. Apart from that, I’d recommend the hotel. Give it a try, fellow travellers.

The rooms are spotless, the rates are very reasonable, and the location is ideal for the Spirit and exploring the area. The cleaning staff do an amazing job and are so cheerful. We first stayed for three nights, using the hotel as a base to explore Cradle Mountain and Devonport. When my husband lost our room key, a gentleman cheerfully came to help us at 10pm. On that first visit, the ladies who clean also found my anklet after I’d thought I’d lost it at our next location. The woman who checked us in on the 31st and the one who checked us out on the 3rd were both lovely. We’d booked again for our last night before the morning sail of the Spirit of Tasmania. Thanks, Edgewater Hotel. We’ll stay there again when we return to Tasmania.

We paid $99 for a budget room and arrived at 9.30pm because the Spirit of Tasmania was running late. Check-in was friendly and efficient. The room was definitely small, but clean, quiet at night, and had a king-size bed. The towels and linen were all white, and coffee, tea, milk and sugar were supplied. The surrounding area was pleasant enough, and I had no complaints about the stay. Edited 7th April 2019: We came back for our last night before the return trip and stayed in the Terrace Room. It was absolutely awesome. The owner’s wife at reception was exceptional too, so I’ve upgraded my rating from four to five stars.

The hotel is modest, just as the description says, but the king-size bed was great and the room was clean and fairly spacious. Staff were helpful and accommodating, and the soundproofing worked well since we didn’t hear other guests. It’s a bit pricey for this kind of hotel, though that’s what you get when you’re so close to the ferry terminal.
