Echuca Hotel

We knew there’d be an hour’s wait for our meals, which was fine, so we sat and had a few drinks. When the food arrived, it was stone cold. The broccolini seemed straight from the fridge and our steak was warm at best, on the cold side. The cauliflower cheese bake I ordered was the only good part, it was beautiful.

The woman in charge of accommodation was helpful and lovely, and the cleaner was lovely too. Apart from them, my experience was disgusting. The man in charge on Friday and Saturday morning, before Carmen arrived on Friday, was rude, unhelpful and incredibly dismissive when I told him the bathroom was smeared with turd both nights I stayed. He made no effort to tell the cleaner after I reported the mess on the first day, and it was there again the next morning. The conditions were vile. I was too disgusted to use the facilities during the three days and two nights I stayed, so I used the toilet in the bar instead. I never leave reviews like this, but I’m very angry about the degrading interactions with whichever male staff member was on in the mornings, and sad the cleaner has to deal with conditions like these.

We left the Echuca hotel really disappointed. There were four of us, and one person sent back her surf and turf because the calamari was undercooked and the steak, ordered rare, was overdone. The bar manager came back, as I understood it, and said he thought the steak was cooked perfectly and there was nothing wrong with the calamari. He showed little understanding, and we felt unwelcome. Not happy at all.

The beer garden is fab, and the venue was clean and pleasant. We had dinner at the Echuca hotel twice, and both meals were great. Service and prices were good too.
