Bayview Motor Inn

A simple, dated room, but it was warm and dry, with a comfortable bed and pillows. There was a small basic kitchenette, plus chairs and tables. The water was hot and it’s close to town. I got a text in the afternoon with the room details and door code.

The location was probably the only real plus. For the price, this place is incredibly disappointing. It’s a dated motel room with a kitchenette but no sink, and the bathroom was disgusting, with hair and mould. The blinds don’t fit the windows properly, so people can see into the room. The beds are so soft they’re uncomfortable, and there were dead flies inside. I felt gross staying there. Outside, the grounds are overgrown and clearly not cared for. There’s so much wasted space, and the place has a lot of potential, but it needs a huge renovation. It’s not worth the price at all.

We arrived very late, but reception was responsive and had left the room open with the keys on the bed. The rooms were clean, parking was plentiful and easy, and the price was affordable. There was also a lake view from the balcony at the back. It does the job for an overnight stop in Eden on the way to the coast or Sydney. Our room was big enough for five, but had just one fan, so it could get really hot in summer. The TV was awkwardly perched above a shelf, with corners sticking out that could hit your head if you weren’t careful. Plates and cutlery were provided, and the yellowish oven looked like it was from the 90s, but it worked.

The room looked clean at first, but after lying down I started feeling extremely itchy within 30-40 minutes. I wondered if it was just me, so I showered, took a Zyrtec and went out to dinner. After we got back, my son went to bed and started itching too. We’d only checked in 2-3 hours earlier, but we had to pack up and leave to find somewhere else to stay. When we told the woman at reception, she didn’t come to inspect the room or offer any proper help. She just said sorry and that there wasn’t much she could do. Very disappointing.
