Really clean rooms, with everything you need and very soft towels. It’s a great spot in Eden whether you’re staying briefly or longer, and it’s very affordable too. I’ll definitely come back.

The owner was super nice and accommodating, and we had a lovely stay at Coast Motel Eden. Our room was beautiful and the beds were comfortable. The location is amazing, with everything you need within walking distance. We’d definitely return.

The bed and shower were adequate, but the furniture was cheap and unstable, and there was a dead fly on the windowsill. I found the manager’s attitude aggressive and unwelcoming, and felt uncomfortable staying here. We left as early as we could and will never come back. After a tiring seven hour drive, we eventually found the narrow entrance behind a large, dated brick building. We weren’t sure where to park, so at first we stopped outside one of the motel units. I went to the brick building expecting reception, but its door said “This is NOT reception” without saying where reception was. We wandered around until a casually dressed man approached us. I assume he was the manager. He said I should have received a text with our room number and lockbox code, but I hadn’t. He eventually helped me find an email from Amex, which I’d booked through, then showed me the lockbox so we could get into the room. Inside, there were several signs laying out rules and saying we’d be charged if we broke them. I’ve never had to wash dishes in a motel, as I might in an Airbnb, so we brought in our own coffee cups. The dead fly felt more welcoming than the manager’s greeting and all those signs. Later, after we drove to the beach and returned, the manager shouted across the car park that I’d been driving too fast. I apologised and said I hadn’t realised I was going fast, but he insisted and said he had video evidence. There was indeed another sign saying the motel was under video surveillance. My partner and I are seniors and teachers, and I’m not in the habit of driving dangerously on narrow, steeply sloping driveways.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and there are several restaurants about a five minute walk away, with the beach around ten minutes on foot. It was a bit noisy because the main street is so close, so earplugs are a good idea at night, though that isn’t the hotel’s fault.

We had no hot water during our two nights in room 10 at Coast Motel in Eden, and roaches and ants were crawling around the kitchen. The lighting was poor, with only lamps, and there was nowhere for a couple to sit and eat. There was no bathroom fan or smoking area, and we had to wash our own dishes in a tub. We won’t be back.
