BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks - Eildon

The sites felt cramped, with caravans taking up nearly all the space and barely any room at the sides. The park also needs firmer rules. People played loud music late into the night, and leaving the camp kitchen open overnight didn't help. I could have called after hours, but couldn't find the number. Some residents in caravans stared at us when we drove past and, in one case, confronted us over their assumption that we were speeding. In December, the cicadas were relentless, buzzing in swarms for 16 hours a day. That might suit some people, but it wasn't for me. The facilities are run down, with broken tiles and missed cleaning days. A branded holiday park with a reputation and standard should take better care of cleanliness. I don't expect much when camping, but basic upkeep isn't too much to ask.

The park itself was clean, but I was unhappy that some people walked their dogs off lead. The pool was closed without any sign explaining why. I emailed to ask, since the office shut at 4pm even though it was meant to stay open until 5. They told me the pool would open the next day, but it didn't. There was no phone number for the person with the gate key, either.

A lovely river runs behind this well-kept park, and it's only a four-minute drive into town. There's a pool, a jumping pillow, and dogs are welcome. The internet is patchy, which makes it a nice place to get off your phone for a while. Great park for anyone.

The park is beautiful, but the cicadas made it impossible to relax or enjoy our time there. They were incredibly loud, around 80 decibels, from sunrise to sunset. I find it hard to believe this happens every year. The water was glacially cold and flowing far too fast to enjoy or use unless you're into hardcore kayaking.
