Penguins calling at night were a highlight, and the place has a great location, a nice deck and direct beach access. There were more mice around than usual, but it wasn't much of a problem for us. Still, the patter of mice running about at night could bother some people. The oven didn't work, which disrupted dinner one night, but we managed fine. We had a great stay.

I booked directly with the owner, so I couldn't leave a review on a site, but wanted to share how wonderful our stay at Emu Bay Stay was. Our time on KI was spectacular, and this accommodation was a big part of it. The beachhouse is dreamy and right on the beach, with wildlife at the doorstep and even underneath it. It was so comfortable that I catch myself daydreaming about affording a similar retreat someday. This one would be hard to match anywhere.

The beach house decor fits the setting, and we felt relaxed as soon as we arrived. We spent time on the fantastic deck in the sunshine and under the night sky, then snuggled up by the fire. It made a perfect base for exploring the island. We'd highly recommend it for a couple staying a week.

Being right on Emu Bay beach made this a fantastic base for exploring the island. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was full-sized and there was laundry. It's a lovely beach for swimming, and we were lucky enough to share the shallows with a pod of dolphins. There's also a cute food van right next door that sets up Fri-Mon.

The water here is shallow, and you can drive your car right onto the beach. It's the best beach I've been to on Kangaroo Island. If you're after big waves, this isn't for you, but it's a lovely place to relax. The water also felt relatively warmer than at some of the other beaches, where it can be really cold.
