The Doo Drop Inn

The Doo-Drop Inn worked out so well for me that I could only have been happier if it had been right on the beach. I’d first planned to stay at one of the resorts opposite the shore, but the name gave me pause, as a literary pundit. The Barn has more upstairs living space than I needed and comes with full amenities. It’s charming and quaint, with the feel of staying in a parlour-boarder’s place rather than being a guest in Esperance. I liked the alfresco area, which looks over a garden that’s nicely kept without feeling sterile. There’s plenty of ambience, and shops and the beach are still close enough to enjoy everything you’d do in Esperance. Steve, the owner and manager, lives next door, I think. He was very friendly, with the feel of a distant relative. I felt welcome and was then left to my own devices, which I appreciated. If you want a motel-style room on the beachfront, there are options, but for a spacious, undisturbed stay, drop in at the Doo-Drop Inn.

We needed an affordable place for four and booked the Barn through booking dot com. The photos don't do it justice. It’s a great townhouse with fully independent facilities, two nice bedrooms and a living room with two couches. The kitchen has cooking facilities, a rice cooker, pans, plates, spoons, a toaster, and tea and coffee. There’s also a nice balcony and an awesome private backyard. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

We had a pleasant two-night stay in December 2020. The apartment was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the beach was close by. The notes in the apartment were clear. Thank you, we’d stay again on a future visit to Esperance.
