Wildwood Guesthouse

Breakfast was easy, with plenty of options and a fridge full of goodies. Wildwood has lovely original art, and the sofas are made for snuggling. It’s beautifully appointed, with a cozy, intimate feel and a fireplace to relax beside. We had a wonderful stay. Highly recommended. Chris & Jan

Rob is a character and an amazing host, and the place has a peaceful bush setting with plenty of wildlife. This is a unique, sumptuous guest house, beautifully appointed with original artwork and a wonderfully down-to-earth feel. A hidden gem in Mudgee.

Rob welcomed us, showed us around, and we had a lovely chat, including getting some reading recommendations. I only wish my wife and I had stayed more than one night. The guesthouse is spacious, well appointed, and surrounded by beautiful gardens. The kitchen was carefully stocked with fresh milk, juice, grapes, ham, eggs, and more. The geese were busy, and the kangaroos looked curious.

We spent three peaceful nights at Wildwood, Wednesday to Saturday. Without WiFi or mobile reception inside the house, we read, walked, cooked, played the odd game, and listened to CDs. The rammed earth and pine interior and tasteful artwork made the house feel relaxing. The driveway and grounds have lots of clever artworks, and some of Jude’s landscape paintings are inside. Kangaroos bounding around the property were a daily delight. Rob and Jude, along with their lovable dog Reacher, were excellent hosts. They were available for questions, local tips about Mudgee and nearby attractions, or a friendly chat. Mudgee is 10 km away, about an 11 minute drive. We cooked all our meals in the fully equipped kitchen and would highly recommend it as a restful place to stay. There are four bedrooms with ensuites, sleeping up to eight, and several wineries nearby for tastings and cellar door visits.
