The food at the Pantry was lovely, and breakfast was excellent too. We had a clean, comfortable room overlooking the gardens, just a short walk away for dinner and drinks. My sister was visiting from the UK, and after our usual day trips to Lorne, she was thrilled we were staying for a few days. We arrived early, and Hilary at reception was so friendly and helpful. She looked after our bags and pointed us to a great cafe for coffee. When we came back, the room was ready. Thanks for such an enjoyable stay.

The buffet breakfast was good, and the place is almost right on the beach, which makes it handy for beach activities. Our room was a little worn, and the showerhead really needed replacing, but it was still okay. A pretty good place to stay.

The Heritage Room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable, but that bathroom was the smallest we've come across in hundreds of hotels around the world. You couldn't sit straight on the loo, and if you dropped the soap in the shower, you had to climb out to pick it up. I'm also not keen on having the vanity in the room. The location is great, right by the beach and surrounded by cafes and restaurants, with plenty of parking and an easy check-in. Breakfast was good and the service was good too. We tried to get a drink at the bar at 8:45 after dinner, but were told it was closed. Mantra Lorne gets four Starrs from Travelling with the Starrs.

We've been coming to Lorne for many years in mid-December, and love the town. The location is excellent, right on the sand and near town. Our ocean-view room was quiet, and staff found us a nice room after we asked when we arrived. We stayed three nights and had breakfast once. It was very busy, so I'd avoid going at 9am.

The grounds were really good, and the location was fantastic. The rooms felt dated but were clean and very spacious. The hallway outside them had a dorm or prison feel, though it did the job. I had breakfast once and went early, so the queues were fine and there was a good choice of food. I'd happily come back if I visit Lorne again.
