Ocean Retreat

The views are incredible, and we spent plenty of time making the most of the summer weather in the divine plunge pool. The house was clean and had lots of useful basics, including tea, coffee and pantry essentials. I celebrated my 50th birthday here with my husband and five close friends, and the place suited us perfectly. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms meant everyone had their own space, and it was so easy to relax and enjoy ourselves. Thanks so much, Nigel, Courtney and Netty, for making the stay so wonderful ❤️ I’d love to come back.

The service was very good, though the WiFi was patchy. For a large group, the cost per day can be reasonable, but for a couple or family the price may be hard to justify if you aren’t using the whole place. I can recommend it for a bigger group. We booked for 10 family members, including two young children. The amazing view really makes the property, and we enjoyed spending time on the deck and around the pool. There’s a large living and dining area, plus a small TV/play room where the kids could go instead of always using the main room. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which worked well for our group. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the separate butler’s kitchen kept everyone from crowding together at breakfast. A new house is being built very close next door. It’s a shame it’s going there, though it hasn’t blocked the view.

I expected more for the price. After staying at places like Rocky Hills Retreat and Thalia Haven, this one didn’t measure up. I wanted to offer another view for future guests, since the latest review I could see on TA was from 2015 and the others seemed very positive. The place feels cold and short on personality. The bedroom is plain, and although the view is excellent, there are houses nearby and little privacy. The kitchen has a decent amount of equipment and the dining room is fine, but that’s about it. There are lots of rules, supplies feel limited, there’s no phone, internet access is restricted, and only four Nespresso pods were provided. I didn’t get a sense of generosity or personal touch. It’s also far from attractions and main towns. Bay of Fires, for example, is more than an hour away, but the property doesn’t offer the privacy or seclusion that might make that location feel special. We gave up one night and moved on to Launceston a day early to get more out of our holiday.

The home was spotless and had everything we needed. The location is amazing, with incredible views. I’d highly recommend it!
