We love Karuah as a quiet, quaint hidden gem near Newcastle and only minutes from the highway. My family and I stay at Karuah Motor Inn when road tripping between Brisbane and Canberra, and we'll definitely be back and recommend it again. The beds are comfy, the mini bar is a favourite, and it's a cosy place. The RSL is a wonderful two-minute walk away, with generous, tasty meals, and there's a shop across the road for snacks or alcohol. This was my least favourite of many visits. The room was okay, but there was rodent poo in the bathroom, the air conditioner badly needs updating, and the bathroom is very small with weak water pressure. The gravel main car park woke us when people arrived or left at all hours. I understand travellers come and go, and I know changing the surface would be expensive, but another surface would make a big difference. There's no pool, which is a shame in the intense summer heat. Management has also declined since years ago: it was very hard to reach anyone by phone or email, and the motel owners down the road told me they sometimes have to walk over to get Karuah Motor Inn to answer. I would have mentioned the room issues to management or housekeeping, but they seemed very busy the morning we left, and a couple of the women didn't look happy to be there. A smile makes all the difference. It would be nice to see a few changes.

A good stopover, with shops and amenities close by and rooms that are nice and pretty clean. The person at reception was kind, caring, humble and very respectful, with great service, AAA rating. The toilet area is tight, and the shower door is very hard to open and close. Still well worth a visit if you need a stop.

We both liked the town's quiet, simple feel during our night there on the drive from the Gold Coast to Sydney. The room was tidy and clean, with the usual motel equipment. Nothing bad about it. There aren't many restaurants nearby, but the place we chose had good food and drinks at reasonable prices. A reasonably good motel for a rest stop, and I recommend it.

Check-in was quick, friendly and easy. Our king room had everything we needed for an overnight stop, including a kettle, toaster, coffee plunger and microwave, plus a small mini bar at a reasonable price. It was spacious, comfortable and clean in this older complex in quiet Karuha. The thick, generously sized towels and robes deserve a mention, as does the excellent shower pressure. Karuha RSL, IGA, a bakery and a pizza, burgers and breakfast cafe are all a very short walk away. The cafe's pizza and pancakes were very good.

A nice, quiet little motor inn for a few nights. The bathroom's a bit small, but the staff are very friendly.
