Hamlet Downs Country Accommodation

The property is lovely to wander around, with free range pigs, goats and sheep for company. After a day walking in the nearby national park, Trish's Burmese Feast is a great way to finish. Breakfast, with home-cured ham, sausages and eggs, sets you up for the day. The accommodation is comfortable, about an hour from Hobart and a relaxed half hour from Mount Filed National Park.

I spent three amazing nights at Hamlet Downs, in a really beautiful, quiet setting with everything I needed. Trish and Steve made the stay especially memorable with their incredible hospitality. Trish's home-cooked food was superb, and Steve was always around if I needed anything. I can't recommend the place highly enough.

We had dinner there both nights, and Trish's food was delicious and top quality. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped too. Such an amazing experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

The King Suite was clean, comfortable, beautiful and charming, with a fully equipped kitchen. But with Trish cooking next door, I wouldn't bother making a meal myself. Her food is five-star, and it sent my tastebuds on adventures I hadn't imagined. It even brought tears to my eyes. The farm has plenty of lovely animals to meet on Steve's fun little tour, though Reggie was the standout for me. She's the most dog-like sheep you'll ever meet, and impossible to resist. If you're lucky, Steve might take you around in his 4x4. I felt like I was in Jurassic Park, complete with the theme song playing in my head. The place itself is charming, and I kept ending up on the porch, looking out at the distant rolling hills, green and glinting gold in the sunlight. The farm has a lot of history, and Steve and Trish have filled it with so much heart and warmth. This definitely won't be my last stay here. I hope to return sooner than I think.
