Fish Creek Hotel

The veggies were fantastic and the chips were okay, and the staff were really friendly. But the steak I tried after a YouTuber recommended it was a dud: chewy and only average in taste. At $54, I've had better steaks from the supermarket. Most reviews I'd read were positive, but I wouldn't recommend it to steak lovers.

The art deco building is beautiful, and dinner there made for a great night. We were four adults and two kids; the kids enjoyed their chicken nuggets and chicken schnitzel. We had the seniors Parma with chips and salad, while our friends got baby octopus, the porchetta special, and truffle chips. Michael at the bar helped us pick a local sparkling wine. Lovely staff brought the food to our beer garden table quickly. First visit to Fish Creek Hotel, but we'll be back.

We return every year for the meals at Fish Creek Hotel and the tidy, affordable motel. The town has a pleasant, folksy feel, and there are several beaches to choose from. The hotel staff have been accommodating when we've messed up our booking a few times. We're very grateful, and it still feels like a best-kept secret.

The art deco building with the fish on it is worth taking a photo of, even if you skip eating there. We walked in without realizing the restaurant was nearly full, so booking ahead makes sense. We were lucky to get one of the last two tables. Ordering at the counter was easy and the meals came quickly. Drinks took a little wait at the second bar, where most staff were serving the bar facing the restaurant, but moving over got us served promptly enough.
