The Metropolitan Spring Hill

The room was tidy and clean, although parts of the bathroom look worn. My balcony faced Little Edward Street, and there’s almost no soundproofing. With the hospital nearby, emergency vehicles passed regularly, and sometimes the sirens seemed to be inside the room. The staff were welcoming, and I’d stay again for the convenience, but the carpark needs better security. A few seedy characters hanging around made me uneasy about leaving my vehicle overnight. I was there the night before the Tour de Brisbane, and the location worked perfectly. It was an easy walk to the Botanic Gardens for the start, and free parking was a big plus, especially since I could leave my car there during the race.

The staff were so helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable. There wasn’t a microwave, but they warmed up my food for me. It was handy for my visit to St Andrews, just a short three-block walk away. There’s also a cafe nearby for breakfast and the Stockmans Hotel for meals. Thanks for the hospitality.

The deposit and refund process felt misleading. They took a large damage deposit and said it would be returned at checkout, then changed that to say a manager needed to approve it later. It left me feeling like they wanted me gone and weren’t going to refund it properly. For the price, the room was awful: no microwave, dishes, or cups, just a box with a bed and an old TV that couldn’t connect to the internet. There was nothing to watch, and the room felt boring and low quality. Overpriced and unprofessional. I’d never stay at Metropolitan Hotel again.

The price was good for a short stay, and the staff were very nice. The rooms were neat and clean, though there was a large crack in the vanity sink and street noise at night. It’s near the private hospital and not far from the city centre.
