Ebbtide Unit 33 2 6 North Street

UNIT 3: We’re on our second holiday here, and the apartment is perfect. The modern decor is well maintained, and it’s comfortable and in an excellent location. The relatively new kitchen, super comfy bedrooms, books, kids’ toys and everything else made for a relaxing stay. The beach and Cafe are across the road, the shops are an easy stroll away, and the balcony has excellent views.

We stay in Unit 2 because family are also in the building, but their apartment is much nicer. The location is terrific, yet after staying here for years and repeatedly being told feedback would lead to improvements, the place still needs basic cleaning and repairs. We’re paying top dollars and expect it to be clean and in working order, not flashy. It’s hard to decide whether to rebook when this is family time, and I even asked for another apartment during the stay. I’ve raised these problems with Pacific Coast; they apologise, but things don’t seem to improve. Photos from today’s arrival are attached. Here’s what we’ve found on arrival: a fridge that leaked all over the floor and wasn’t replaced for two years; dirty sheets with dirt and blood stains, followed by an emergency clean; a dryer that still doesn’t work; dirty towels piled in the doorway, with no clean towels or bathroom amenities; no toilet paper; old carpet piled in the bedroom; a bathroom door that wouldn’t close properly, which they’ve now shaved down and taped together; and very dirty doors and windows, plus dirty, mouldy blinds.

UNIT 25 The location was great, but the apartment was terrible. The advertised stove turned out to be a two ring ceramic hot top. After I complained, the agent said an oven hadn’t been advertised, then later changed the listing to say stove top. The BBQ was so rusty it looked like it came from a scrap pile. The electric grill in a drawer didn’t work either. It was frustrating to find so many things unusable. Two of the four veranda chairs were too old and chalky to sit on without marking your clothes. The washing machine worked inconsistently, stopping between wash and rinse because the agitator wouldn’t spin with the drum. The vertical blinds were badly broken, leaving the afternoon sun blinding in the living room.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The room was very ordinary, with broken blinds and a door hinge, a stove grill that wouldn’t close properly, a broken shower head, a heater with no controls, a broken electrical outlet in the bathroom, and broken tiles in the shower. I called 11 times to complain, and it took 6 days to get a response. Lucky to give it one star.
