Citigate Motel

I’ve stayed here three times now. It’s a nice, clean motel with friendly, helpful staff and owner, and the price is affordable. There’s a 7-eleven across the road, and it’s convenient for getting around Newcastle. Recommended 👍

We came up for two nights for the “Strummingbird Festival” and had a great stay. Owners Andrew & Jordan were welcoming from the minute we arrived, treating us like old mates. The hospitality was great, and the rooms were good too.

For the price, I think it’s worth it. You get what you need for a day or two, so I’d recommend it for a one night stay. I did spot a cockroach outside, though. If that were taken care of, I’d give it five stars.

The bathroom was nice and large, reception seemed friendly, and there’s a convenient servo close by. Still, sadly, I wouldn’t stay again. There was mould on the bathroom ceiling and on the white bedroom curtains, a stain on the couch, and a dying cockroach in the toilet room when we arrived. The bedroom fan light didn’t work, so the room felt stuffy unless we left the door open to let in aircon from the kitchen. We had four people in a two bedroom unit, but there were only enough plates and bowls for two, and too few places for us all to sit and eat together.
