We enjoyed the beer garden while the kids played, and the loaded fries were a hit. We came after hearing there was a new Chef, and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. Our waitress was accommodating, and all the staff were friendly. They also told us a new playground is coming soon. This will definitely be our new local. Thanks to the chef and the lovely waitress who served us.

The kids’ playground was a great bonus, and the burgers were delicious. Chef Rowan has apparently taken over the kitchen six weeks ago, and there’s already a really big positive change. Rowan has done wonders with the menu. Can’t wait to come back. This is definitely our new local.

Trivia nights are loads of fun, and they’re dog friendly too. The staff are really nice!

It’s a tucked-away Newcastle pub with friendly staff. The little darling who served food and cleared tables was a delight, and the bar staff were lovely too. There are specials every evening, including 99c wings on Fridays and $5 kids’ burgers and chips. Saturdays bring free pool and $12 margaritas 🍹. Happy hour runs daily from 4 to 6pm, and it’s open Wednesday to Sunday. $ to $$

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the shared bathrooms were basic but well maintained, just what you’d expect for the price. We arrived late, and Beau and the staff stayed after the pub had closed to welcome us warmly and offer us a drink. We had a great stay at The Criterion and would love to visit again, this time while the pub is open. Thanks very much.
