The Brighton

The location is right across from the water, a nice place to walk and enjoy water activities, and secure onsite parking is available. I booked online mid-afternoon for that same night, a Friday, and got two calls: one to say reception would close before I arrived, so my keys would be in a lock box, and another to say housekeeping had finished for the day, so my request for two single beds instead of a king couldn’t be accommodated. The room was average. There was no shampoo or conditioner, and apart from the tea and coffee accompaniments, no cutlery or crockery. I thought that was poor for a place advertised as an apartment. The balcony wasn’t clean either. The outdoor setting was definitely dirty, with a centimetre of dust on the table, and there were several cigarette butts on the ledge despite the no-smoking rule for the balcony.

A relaxing place to stay, with friendly residents and a friendly weekend staff member named Leane. We booked two nights for the weekend and used this little gem in Toronto as our base for exploring Lake Mac and surrounds. Our two-bedroom apartment was clean, quiet and well maintained, with basic kitchen utensils, a comfy, clean bed and a shower with good pressure. It overlooked the lake and a park, with a decent-sized jetty where you could cast a line if you had time, and a netted area for swimming. It’s close to the town centre, with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. I’ll consider booking again in future.

Brighton Apartments were clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location near the water was perfect, and restaurants and shops were an easy walk away. I was disappointed to be staying only overnight for a work trip. I’d definitely stay here again.

We booked and paid for a one-bedroom apartment through Booking.com a bit over a month before arrival. We got all the confirmation emails, plus a confirmation text on check-in day. Then, two hours before check-in, they called to say there’d been a “glitch” and someone else had taken our room. They seemed confused and unsure which day we were arriving. They offered us the remaining “studio”, but we hate studio rooms, so I asked for a refund. They agreed and took my credit card details, but never refunded us. We had to find somewhere else at short notice, and now I have to cancel that card because they have the number. Total incompetence. I couldn’t recommend them to anybody. EDIT: About your response, six months to reply! To clarify your clarification, you cancelled the booking, not us, and told us two hours before we arrived. Your computers might not show a “glitch”, but that’s what the receptionist told us. You agreed to a refund and took my card details, and no refund came.
