Good views from the outdoor tables, and even though it was packed on Sunday, we still found room to eat outside. I had the surf and turf: the steak was cooked well, the seafood was fresh and generous, and the portion was satisfying. A proper pub meal. I had a great visit to Lakes & Ocean Hotel, and it seems to be a popular spot. Worth a stop if you're in Forster, especially if you'd like to sit outside.

Our group comes here for lunch each year to celebrate someone we love, and this year's meal was delicious again. We tried the lamb pita Greek salad bowl, fish and chips, cheeseburger, steak, chicken souvlaki and chicken burger. Everything arrived quickly and was very nice, with friendly, prompt service. Thanks, we'll look forward to coming back next year.

Our booking through Qantas was for the wrong room type, but Rick and Shannon were kind and understanding about the mix-up. Shannon worked out a better alternative for us, even though Qantas had caused the problem. His help made our time in Forster fantastic, and we really appreciated the care and kindness from both of them.

The location is amazing, but the chicken schnitzel wasn't cooked properly, and the staff didn't seem happy when we asked about it. The woman at the bar was rude too and could work on her attitude. While I was at the table, my arm got wet from the leaking air conditioner. There was also a magpie flying around the kitchen, which was odd but kind of amusing, so I let that one slide.

The rooms are beautiful and the menu is awesome, with the best Guinness I've had outside Dublin. Great live music brings in a lively crowd. The hotel has a great vibe and is right in the centre, an easy walk to the city, beach, lake, boat hire and restaurants.
