Barefoot Beach Cottage

With the dog beach less than a five-minute walk away, this was a great spot for pets. The enclosed garden has lots of established trees, and inside the cottage was clean and well equipped. Loved the beach cottage feel. We'd happily stay again.

Our dogs got a beach walk every day, just around the corner, and we had BBQs most nights during our five-night family stay. The house worked well for adults, kids and both dogs. The kids especially loved their sweet room, with bunk beds, books and toys. We also loved the original walk-in larder. The comfortable beds, fireplace and secure yard were big pluses, and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. It has a lovely farmhouse-meets-beach look, and the whole place felt comfy, like home. It’s a rustic house that’s lived in, rather than spotless, but it didn’t bother us. It isn’t dirty, and it’s very kid and dog friendly. One thing that’s been mentioned before is the bathroom. The fan doesn’t work, and there’s no shower rod or curtain. Water gets onto the beautiful original floorboards, and they’re starting to get damaged and smell. Those old details are my favourite part of the house, so it’s a shame to see the boards suffer. We’d definitely book again. Thankyou!

The bathroom gets very steamy, and the floor was drenched after using the step-in bath, which has no shower screen. There’s no fan either. The kitchen was well equipped, though, and the gorgeous fireplace and old-school decor suited the place perfectly. Lovely overall.

So peaceful by the fire. Loved it ❤️🍷
