Mid City Motor Inn

I've stayed here twice and had a very positive experience both times, despite seeing so many negative reviews. The pool is big, clean and beautiful, and it's a quiet, peaceful place. River walks, parks, shops, food and coffee are all close by. Staff and management were pleasant, friendly and helpful. It's inexpensive, pet friendly, and a good choice for a clean, basic room for the night, with a TV, air-conditioning, free WiFi and a decent bathroom. Pet friendly always swings it for me.

The air con was filthy, so I had to clean it straight away. The room was OK otherwise, but the shower head was broken and wouldn't stay put, falling down and spraying the walls. The TV only worked now and then, with no service the rest of the time. People in the next room stomped around all night, and by 2.45am we'd given up trying to sleep and left. Worst place I've been in years.

The beds were very soft, and the hot water worked. The toilet paper was good too, though its roll had to sit on the floor because the holder had broken off, like the towel rails. The bath towels were stained. The room was dirty, with rubbish on the floor, and the shower and bathroom weren't clean. The air conditioner looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a long time, so we didn't risk using it in case we got sick. The fridge thermostat was broken and hanging inside, with wires exposed, so keep kids away from it. Better than a bad mining camp, but only just. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place or stay again.

This place was filthy from the floors and walls to the cups and cutlery, which were coated in old food. It's a run-down, cockroach-infested dump, with noisy residents carrying on at all hours. I've never stayed somewhere more vile. How can they charge such rip-off prices for a place like this? Give it a miss. It ought to be bulldozed.
