Anchor Down Apartments

After my bike was stolen from the underground car park, it took repeated attempts to get the owners to check the cameras. They eventually looked and said they couldn’t do anything. They’re happy to avoid responsibility by saying they don’t speak good English, and the service is the bare minimum, with no care for your situation, health or safety.

The apartment was infested with cockroaches and strange insects, and everything felt run-down or broken, with years of dirt and mould everywhere. I had to change rooms before my arrival, and when I Googled the number I saw the low ratings and photos of cockroach and insect infestations. I tried to get a refund, but the man on the phone assured me pest controllers had been in. I believed him and shouldn’t have. I arrived at 4pm after surgery, and they hadn’t even checked the room. I say “checked” because guests are expected to clean it themselves at checkout. Given the apartment’s condition, I know they don’t clean it. I was near bed-bound after surgery, so sadly couldn’t leave. Many things were broken, dirty and mouldy, and one night the curtain fell on me. It had come away from the wall and was hanging from a hole. This place is unlivable and should be shut down. I’ll be complaining to the local housing authorities. Avoid it at any price.

The air conditioning worked and the toilet was fine, so I’ve given it two stars. We spent two nights here with family and weren’t pleased. This hotel doesn’t meet a three-star standard. The TV and fan didn’t work, and although there was a washing machine, no washing powder. The fridge, cupboard and bedside table hadn’t been cleaned. The corridor outside our room stank, and the bedrooms had a slight smell, though that was manageable.

WARNING, we found a used needle. As we unpacked, my baby found a dirty needle and put it in his mouth. The hotel refused accountability and said they didn’t speak much English. We had to make an emergency doctor visit, and my baby went through blood tests and the stress of not knowing the outcome. The people at the hotel didn’t care at all. Our daughter’s birthday trip turned into a lost holiday and complete distress. Don’t go here. It’s unsafe and unhygienic and needs a serious shake-up. We kept the needle and medical records as evidence for anyone else who’s had a similar experience.
