Breakfree Acapulco

It's an older building, but the rooms were nice and the ocean and city views were better than at some hotels I've stayed in. The windows could have been cleaned more thoroughly, and unfortunately parking is quite limited.

The location was great, but we couldn't get the top floor because they couldn't set it up with 1 king bed instead of 2 singles, so we had to move 10 floors down. On check in day we were kept waiting for an hour while the cleaner finished the room. When we got in, the bed and bedsheet were so dirty. We called, but they changed the bedding in only one bedroom, and it wasn't even the dirty one. The next day we found the maicrove wasn't working as quickly as we expected, and the stove had the same issue. Aren't they supposed to turn those on before check in? They didn't do it for 2 days. I'm sure they can do way better.

The staff were outstanding, but I wouldn’t come back. We spent the first night in an unrenovated two-bedroom apartment on level 2, facing a construction site. The aircon and fans didn’t work, so we had to open everything to cool the place and put up with terrible noise. Even the TV remote batteries were flat. The missing coffee sachets at 5:30 in the morning felt like the last straw. They moved us yesterday to a renovated apartment with a lovely view, and the apartment itself was great. I checked for coffee first thing, but they’d forgotten again, so someone brought up sachets we’d bought. At 5:30 the next morning, the kettle tripped the circuit. I tried another PowerPoint and it tripped again, so I microwaved water for coffee. The lift is very slow because one of the two lifts is out of action for the whole apartment complex. 💕

A good mid-range option in a fairly central part of the Gold Coast, with Northcliffe Beach just a block away and Surfers Paradise attractions within walking distance. The G-link tram is also a block away, which gives holidaymakers more places to get to. There’s plenty of room for families, though the complex is quite dated and could use an upgrade. When we visited family staying there, one of the two elevators was out of service.
