Be careful about what you see in the marketing, because it may not be what you get. The one-bedroom apartment pictures didn't match the actual place we were given, 6C. We only found out on arrival that the air conditioner wasn't working. In the Gold Coast's extremely hot, humid weather, we were told there was an air cooler instead. It was plugged into a power point that I safely blocked the exit to the ocean-view balcony. The humidity was rife, and running that system all day didn't seem safe. I emailed management and got a very apologetic reply saying someone would contact us the next day. Nobody did. They took our money and left us high and dry. The apartment feels unloved, and the owners could put money into it and make more from stays. Shouldn't they care about the quality and upkeep of their investment? I hope my photos show what's happening in these apartments, and the poor on-site or follow-up service you might need on arrival.

Everything we needed was there, and the place was clean and very comfortable. Great location too. I'd highly recommend it and will be back.

We had an easy time getting around with the lift, and enjoyed the lovely pool and spa. Emerald Sands is a friendly, personal place to stay, with a clean, tidy unit and a lovely beach view. For such a busy tourist area, the rates are reasonable. I'd happily recommend this complex when visiting Surfers Paradise.

The beach is just a one-minute walk from the apartments. Waking up to sea views, sunrise and crashing waves was heaven, and even when Surfers was busy, it stayed quiet and peaceful around the apartments. It's also a short walk to the centre. On our first visit, it happened to be schoolies, which we hadn't known before booking, but it didn't affect us at all. This was our second stay and we still love it. The apartments were clean and tidy, with everything we needed, and everyone was friendly. Tania was a huge help and super friendly too. We highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

We enjoyed watching the bikes and old cars come around the bend, but it was quiet later at night and sleep wasn't a problem. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Our clean unit had a king bed and a partial beach view. Parking was easy, with 2m clearance. The elevator was noisy and clunky. There was a notice saying it was waiting on parts and still fine to use, but we took the stairs. The spa was only warm, and I wished it were warmer. There's just a laneway between the property and the beach, then a short walk to the flagged area.
