We left the same evening we checked in because the rooms were so cramped and unbearably hot. There was only a floor fan, which didn’t rotate and did nothing, and no ceiling fans. I have type 1 diabetes and couldn’t monitor a hypo through natural means in that heat. I was also worried about being charged if my son, who is prone to nosebleeds in hot weather, had one. We were told to be quiet around 10:00 because the TV was too loud, even though we hadn’t turned it on. Despite leaving that evening, we were charged for the two planned days. The room was so stifling that we went for a swim as soon as we arrived while I tried to find somewhere else for us to stay. There was nothing available over the New Year period, December 30, 31 and January 1, so we ended up driving three hours home. That made it the most expensive trip to a pool. I expected air conditioning, and there wasn’t any, so I feel advertising it as having air conditioning is false. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, even if they were desperate for accommodation.

The host was really friendly and great, and the house was okay, but the stay was deeply disappointing for what we paid. The advertised continental breakfast was just cereal and bread left on the counter. You had to make it yourself and wash your own dishes. The rooms are tiny, there’s no air conditioning, and having two adults and two children in one bedroom in summer was uncomfortable without cool air. It felt close to a backpackers lodge, not a bed and breakfast. We all slept badly and were uncomfortable. It wasn’t worth the money.

We had a brilliant weekend at Wombats, and the Manager/Owner was caring and helpful. The kids and I were pleased to be welcomed to our apartment with a box of chocolates, though they were ten days past their date and tasted fermented, lol. Thanks, Wombats. Highly recommend.

Laurie at Wombat B&B was very friendly and went out of the way to make us feel welcome. We’d stay there again and recommend it for family groups wanting a weekend getaway. We’d booked online for a quick trip to the Central Coast for family reasons. The place was easy to find, a short distance from the main highway into Gosford. Aldi, Coles, and a family tavern are all nearby.

The place felt strange and creepy, and it was very noisy, so don’t count on getting much sleep. There’s one bathroom shared between four rooms. It’s outdated and overpriced, and breakfast is only a few loaves of bread. As mentioned in a previous post, there’s no air conditioning and the rooms are sweltering. Horrendous. Do yourselves a favour and go elsewhere.
