Erikas Holiday Apartments

The beds were reasonably comfortable and the staff were pleasant, but the room was very small. There were two adults and two children checked in, yet we had only two towels. I expected four.

The apartments blamed me and refused a refund when I raised what looked like a booking error. I’d completed an incomplete reservation through an external site and, by the time it was confirmed and paid, the room I had chosen seemed to have been taken by other customers. I ended up with a downgrade at the same price, in a room with wording extremely similar to the one I’d searched for. Only a tiny change at the final confirmation stage tipped me off that something had gone wrong. I checked the company website’s gallery and bookings area and couldn’t find the room I’d been given. I’d searched dozens of options against my requirements, and none of the results matched this room, so I don’t believe it was my mistake. The apartments said they lacked availability for my original choice, but it seemed more likely that the multiple booking systems had caused an error and allowed the same place to be booked twice, leaving me downgraded without notice. I consider this unfair and erroneous service. If a company accepts reservations through external sites, customers should be protected when technical errors happen. Blaming customers for deceptive tactics or system errors isn’t good practice.

Never again. I paid $180 for the room, but the view was horrible, and there were extra charges that weren’t shown online: $30 for parking, another $15 to upgrade to air conditioning that I thought I’d already paid for, and a $200 room deposit. There was no sugar for tea or coffee, and they said using the cutlery would cost $100. It all came to $415 for the night, with $200 to be returned.

The only good thing was the Mexican restaurant downstairs, which had incredible food and service. We left after one night. The reception staff stayed behind closed doors, so you had to knock to speak to anyone. Our room looked nothing like the website pictures. The bathroom ceiling had mould, there was nothing to cook with, and the pool and sauna were average. The person next door kept smoking marijuana, and we could smell it on the way to our room. We told staff, but they didn’t seem to care or do anything. This place was absolutely disgusting.
