Genesis Apartments by Gold Coast Premium

The photos didn't look anything like our room. We couldn't stay there and had to find new accommodation at the last minute. The whole room smelled damp, and the carpet and curtains were wet and mouldy from a leaking air conditioner that seemed to have been leaking for a long time. It felt like a health hazard. The rest of the room was dirty too, with yellowed pillows and dirt marks on the duvet. Absolutely disgusting. I wouldn't go near the place.

Apartment 3 in the Genesis Building was not as advertised and was in an unacceptable state when we arrived. The condition caused considerable stress and discomfort for our two families, who had travelled from interstate for a much-anticipated holiday. It fell well short of the promised basic standards for cleanliness, maintenance, and comfort, and we advise others to be cautious about booking. The beds had visible mould, and all the curtains had mould too. The entire apartment was very dirty. The washing machine and dryer were so filthy they couldn't be used without cleaning, and all the showers were leaking and very dirty. We had to clean the showers ourselves before letting our children use them. Some plates and bowls in the cupboards still had food residue from previous guests. The living room had only one small two-seater couch, despite the listing showing two large couches, so some of the children had to sit on the floor to watch TV. Many lights flickered or didn't work. The ensuite sliding door wouldn't close, leaving no privacy in the bathroom, and the master bedroom door kept getting stuck and was extremely difficult to open and close. Its heater didn't work properly and only blew cold air.

The location and space were the only positives for us. We had a lovely view, easy access to the beach, shopping centre, and other amenities, and appreciated how roomy the apartment was. But the online photos on Google and Booking.com make it look modern and clean, which was far from what we found. The rooms and apartment were old, tired, and badly in need of renovation and a thorough clean. The place itself was very old and not clean. There were cracks on the balcony, a dirty sofa, and an outdated washing machine we didn't feel comfortable using. The microwave was also very old, with brown discoloration from wear. The ceiling fans made unsettling noises that made us feel unsafe, and there was no air conditioning. One bathroom had been renovated, but its sink wouldn't drain properly. After anyone showered, the whole bathroom flooded and took all night to drain. It was unusable and dangerously slippery. We told the front desk, but the staff member was rarely there and nothing was fixed during our stay, despite a promise to take care of it. Maintenance work on level 6 went on through the day. We had been told about it in advance, but the noise was still disruptive and made it hard to sleep or relax. I wouldn't recommend staying unless major improvements are made.

It's been two years and I still have nightmares about this place. They need to get it together and make sure it's actually livable for sleeping. I feel like just breathing the air gave me a brain-eating amoeba. You disgust me. I'd give it zero if I could, but one is as low as Google lets me go.
