Mantra Wings Surfers Paradise

The apartment was nice, and the pool and spa were great. We stayed in an Airbnb unit in the building and liked it overall, although we arrived to find some broken things and air conditioning problems. The view from the room was great too, and the beach was just a three-minute walk away. My main annoyance was the tennis court booking. Signs everywhere said to book at reception, but during our six days there the reception was open only once, so we couldn’t use the courts.

I arrived at 1pm as agreed, but didn’t get the keys until 5pm. I was left waiting around in the dark for most of that time. When I finally got into the room, it was filthy: no toilet paper, beds that had been slept in, a toilet that wouldn’t flush, and a bathroom door that kept locking people inside. It was unsanitary. Cleaners came at 5pm and spent about an hour and a half cleaning, while we still weren’t allowed into the property. A waste of money. I was promised a refund, but it hasn’t come through, and the $250 bond is a scam. They aren’t meant to take it. The hotel may blame a “third party property manager,” but if they can’t regulate that, it’s too much hassle for customers. I wouldn’t even rate this hotel. I’ll tell everyone I know not to stay here.

The only real problem was the air conditioning. There was just one unit in the lounge, and it struggled to cool that area and didn’t cool the bedrooms at all, which made for warm, sweaty nights. Still, we had a good stay. The room and premises were clean, and the heated pool, gym, and sauna were great. The property sits between Broadbeach and Surfers, close enough to walk 1-2km but far enough from the noise. A tram runs right outside.

We had a quiet, great stay in a two-bedroom apartment on level 8 looking towards the ocean. The pool and outdoor area were excellent, and the BBQs were very clean. Renee at reception was polite and helpful. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is that the room needs some maintenance and freshening up. All up, we had a great stay and would return.
