Mermaid Cove Resort

The place was clean when we arrived, which was a plus. Unit 21 was basic at worst and adequate at best for our seven nights. The double bed had an old mattress and very thin pillows, so it was uncomfortable. The lounge was a basic pull-out bed and uncomfortable to sit on. The outdoor furniture was the cheapest, most basic kind you can buy.

After a week, we asked for clean towels and bedding. Towels were handed over begrudgingly, but clean bedding never came. When we asked where to put the dirty towels, we were told to leave them on the bathroom door. Absolutely disgusting service and place. The first room was old and dirty, with very little natural light. Construction wasn't just nearby, it was on our balcony. It started at 6.20am and went all day. We were eventually moved to another room. It was a little quieter, but just as dingy.

A hired car works well here, with an undercover car park, and the rooms have a stove, microwave, oven, fridge, and other amenities. It's clean, close to everything, and there was no disturbance during our stay. Mermaid Beach is less than a five-minute walk away. We had a great time.

The lady at reception, who I think was the owner, was very kind and let me check out a little later. The free underground parking was handy, the rooms were comfortable enough and fairly modern, and dining options were within walking distance. Great location. I'd recommend it.
