The owner of The Queenslander Motel didn’t even know the room passcode, and the motel was poorly equipped for the high nightly price we were charged, which was far above market rates. He was rude and unprofessional from the start, treating us without basic courtesy. When we tried to calmly discuss the price, he acted hostile, slammed the door and told us to “go.” Most concerning was how he treated my Asian friends. It was racist and disrespectful. I’m white and he has brown skin, but that doesn’t make the treatment any less unacceptable. We felt intimidated, unsafe and unwelcome. Avoid this place.

The beach was just nearby, and getting around was easy since public transport was so close. I was in Surfers Paradise celebrating my birthday with friends, and the prices were reasonable for what the motel offered. I’d consider coming back.

It’s an older motel, but the rooms and sheets were extremely clean, and the service was fantastic. There’s secure off-street parking and reception is open 24 hours. Very well priced, it’s the best value for money in Cairns. I highly recommend it for an overnight stay.

We’ll definitely come back. The owners were helpful, the rooms were large, and the location was just right, with restaurants, bars and shops nearby and the beach across the road.

The owners were so nice and ready to help whenever we needed them. Our room was spacious, with lovely beds, a great bathroom and decor we really enjoyed. The beach is a three minute walk across the road, and there are local shops and restaurants nearby to the north. Everything is close. We’ll definitely return when we visit the Gold Coast, and highly recommend this lovely hotel.
