Queensleigh Holiday Apartments

We watched the New Year fireworks from the balcony, with an unobstructed view, so there was no need to leave the building. The apartment was spacious, decorated like a charming seaside cabin. Restaurants, beach, shops, pharmacy, gaming centre, and Surf Club are all within walking distance. The G-link "Broadbeach South" station is close too, making it easy to travel elsewhere on the Gold Coast.

We booked two apartments for a weekend, and they didn’t have the same features. One had carpet, aircon, a different kind of shower, and a dining table. The other had no a/c, tiles in the living room and kitchen, and no proper dining table. So check what’s included, as each apartment can vary. The building and apartments have an older, probably 70s, style, but there’s parking for each room. It’s good value, close to the beach, restaurants, convention centre, casino, and Broadbeach tram station. The person running the place was friendly.

The place itself was just okay. We’d stayed three nights at 120 per night, then our flight was cancelled because of Oswald cyclone. When we came back, they had rooms available but wouldn’t give us the same rate because we couldn’t say if we’d stay longer than one night. The one-night price was 200 per night. We’d just been guests for three nights, but they turned us away rather than offer the 2+ night rate, apparently preferring to leave a room empty. We ended up at Grand Chancellor Hotel, where the staff were extremely helpful with our requests, and stayed two nights until we could fly back to Melbourne. Couldn’t they have handled that a little better?
