Mercure Goulburn

The photos make the place look significantly better than it is, so expect less. This feels like a bare-minimum motel trading on an expensive brand name. My room was gloomy, smelled stale with a hint of cigarette smoke, and had cheap-looking furniture. Nothing about the property justifies paying over $200 a night. On top of that, they charged $20 extra for a baby cot, which felt absurd at that room rate. The staff came across more as asking where I'd been than showing any real hospitality or customer service. I've stayed in much better motels for less. Save your money and stay somewhere else. The only five-star thing here is how confidently they overcharge guests.

We stayed overnight while travelling from Mel to Syd and picked the place for its location. Trappers bakery and pretty much everything else we needed were close by. The woman on the evening front desk on 08/06 was warm and kindly suggested a few options. The room was neat and worked perfectly for our couple of nights. We'd definitely return, thank you!

The buffet breakfast was a bit disappointing, with limited food choices, and it could be served warmer. A better coffee machine would make breakfast more pleasant. Otherwise, we were pleased with our stay: the hotel was clean and right in the heart of Goulburn, staff were friendly from check-in through check-out, the rooms were spacious, and the beds and bathrooms were clean.

The rooms and beds were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. It's away from traffic noise, with a bright reception area. There are two fuel stations nearby, along with other places to get food and The Big Merino, where you can shop and learn about its history.
